Your trusted Logistics service partner
In the world of business, inventory management is always a priority. However, there are instances when businesses find themselves with surplus stock, outdated products, or materials that have outlived their utility. To address this, MeisterPrep offers specialized Disposal Services, designed to efficiently and responsibly manage and dispose of any unwanted inventory. Disposal is a normal part of running a product-based business. Amazon FBA sellers deal with unfulfillable inventory that Amazon returns to them in bulk. Retail brands have seasonal overstock that did not sell through. Importers receive containers where 5% to 10% of units arrived damaged. D2C brands get customer returns that cannot be resold. In all of these cases, the product needs to go somewhere, and it cannot just sit in your warehouse taking up space and racking up storage fees. MeisterPrep handles disposal across our four US warehouse locations in Long Beach CA, Des Plaines IL, Houston TX, and Charleston SC. Whether you have 50 units or 50,000 units that need to go, we have a process for it.
The MeisterPrep Disposal Process
Our disposal process is built around accountability and documentation. Every unit that enters our disposal workflow is tracked from intake through final disposition. Step 1: Intake and Assessment When inventory is flagged for disposal, whether it arrives from Amazon removal orders, comes off your warehouse shelves, or shows up as damaged freight, we sort it into categories: recyclable, donatable, resalable on secondary markets, and destined for destruction. This sorting step matters because not everything needs to go to a landfill, and in many cases you can recover partial value. Step 2: Documentation and Approval We photograph the inventory, record quantities by SKU, and send you a disposal manifest before anything leaves our facility. You review the list, confirm what should be recycled vs. donated vs. destroyed, and approve the disposal. Nothing gets disposed of without your written sign-off. Step 3: Execution Recyclable materials (cardboard, plastics, metals) go to our recycling partners. Donatable goods in usable condition go to verified charitable organizations, and we provide donation receipts for your tax records. Products that must be destroyed (expired consumables, recalled items, goods with brand protection requirements) are processed through certified destruction services, and we provide a certificate of destruction. Step 4: Reporting After disposal is complete, you receive a final report showing every SKU, the quantity disposed, the method used, and any supporting documentation. This gives your accounting team what they need for inventory write-offs and your compliance team the paper trail for audits.
Why Disposal Services Matter for Your Business
Storage costs are the main driver. If you are paying per-pallet or per-cubic-foot warehousing rates, dead inventory burns money every month. A pallet of unsellable product sitting in your warehouse for 6 months can cost $150 to $300 in storage fees alone. Multiply that across 20 or 30 pallets of slow-moving or damaged goods, and you are looking at thousands of dollars in wasted warehouse spend. Amazon FBA Removal Orders Amazon charges long-term storage fees on inventory that sits in their fulfillment centers for more than 180 days. When sellers pull that inventory out with removal orders, it lands at a warehouse, and the disposal question comes up fast. We receive Amazon removal shipments daily at our Long Beach and Des Plaines facilities. We sort the returns, assess condition, and give you options: repackage and resend to FBA, list on a liquidation channel, donate, or destroy. Most sellers save 30% to 50% versus paying Amazon's own disposal fees. Brand Protection For brands selling on Amazon, Walmart, or through retail, disposal with a certificate of destruction is sometimes the only option. You do not want returned or defective product ending up on unauthorized reseller sites or discount marketplaces where it damages your brand reputation and undercuts your pricing. Our certified destruction process gives you proof that the product was destroyed, not diverted. Regulatory Compliance Some products have specific disposal requirements. Expired supplements, cosmetics past their shelf life, recalled consumer goods, and products containing hazardous materials all need to be handled according to federal and state regulations. MeisterPrep works with licensed disposal partners for these categories. We are not a hazardous waste facility, but we coordinate with certified handlers to make sure regulated products are disposed of properly and you have the compliance documentation to prove it. Donation Programs When inventory is still functional but not sellable through your normal channels, donation is the best path. We partner with charitable organizations that accept consumer goods, and we handle the logistics of getting the product to them. You get a tax-deductible donation receipt and the satisfaction of keeping usable product out of landfills.
